I had the opportunity to join Louise Baby shower-party/breakfast/lunch early Saturday morning (my first). I could hardly get out of bed, but once I forced myself into the shower, and thru on some nice rags I went with excitement to The Garfish Restaurant in Manly, to meet the other “Baby shower gals”. This is how the “shower” went down:
- Lots of Coffee and food: To start off the event (and also to wake some people up), loads of nice food, and coffee was ordered to the large table, occupied by approx 15 gals, and one boy (Emmas 9 month old Marcus).
- The secret task, on pink paper: Everyone got a pink paper note, which was divided in the middle, a task was written on both sides, you kept one part, and the other was pined to a board with your name on it, to be kept by Louise. The reminder pink note read: Bring over a pre-cooked dinner for two, a bit further down there is a best before date: this opportunity expires 22nd of July 2007. I kind of like this one, I’d love for people to come over with nicely home cooked meals; she must have about 15 to collect, not bad!!!
- Sniff, look & mucky diaper contest: Everyone got a diaper each, filled with different type of chocolate; the contest was to guess what type of chocolate that was mashed in your diaper, by looking, tasting and sniffing it! Luckily I got smarties in mine, which where kind of easy to identify, so I skip the sniffing and tasting part.
- Guessing Louise stomach measurement: Hmmmm....guessing how large Louise’s stomach has become. Cutting off some yarn representing Louise’s circumference proved to be very difficult, and fun because of how much peoples eye-measure skills or none existing measure skills showed off.
- Who will get the honor of buying Louise a gift to the baby?
In a tiny notebook everyone stated the following:
Sex:
Weight:
Length:
Birth date:
Also everyone donated $2, the winner (the one closed to the truth, which will reveal itself in a couple of weeks) receives the honor of buying a present to the new mother!
I had a fantastic time, thanks to Emma for organizing the event!!!
