Ericsson Australia raised money for Cancer Research by offering HUGE amount of home made cake, cookies and other stuff for $2

This is probably the biggest cake I have ever seen, the whole coffee room was covered in deliciously home baked cookies, pies, candy etc

Everyone jointing the BIG Morning Thee, donated $2 to Cancer research, which is by the way the most common cause of death in Australia.

MOST impressive was the cupcakes, who one of the girls in the office had mad, they where like artworks, she must have spent hours decorating these!!!

Adrian, Craig and Daniel did a lot of eating, as everyone else I was feeling sick and hyper of all the sugar for the rest of the day,

Off to Stockholm

My Darling must go to Stockholm on business, it sucks as usual, BIG time. I gave him a ride to the airport, we kind of both cried (I was crying and Tino was wet eyed)… .We don’t like to be apart, but what can you do…!? The first day is always worst, then it kind of ease off a bit….Tomorrow will be better, today I actually found myself a bit depressed…..(which kind of NEVER happens….) very unusual

Tino on Three

Tino made some research for how we cheapest can make calls when in Sweden. Three have a GREAT offer, $29 cap plan, brand new phone, contract for 24 months, you can have the phone unlocked (no problem..), X-Series (MNS, SKYPE, Three TV etc, BUT the BEST!!!
FREE LIKE HOME, which means: When in Sweden utilizing Threes network there, you can accept incoming calls, and NOT have to pay any roaming fee!!! fab for us!

Telstra Executive Day

Bright and early start of the day; 7.15am at the Royal Australian Jockey Club Randwick. Telstra gathered all their main customers for presentation of NextG, new enterprise applications, location services and a lot more. A nice breakfast was accompanied by interesting presentations from Telstra executives. Afterwards there where a number of showcases on display, great to see the services promoted!

I got a new contact for pushing WAP billing as well :-)

In October 2006 Telstra launched its 3G HSDPA network, NEXT G, delivered by Ericsson. The network will replace the CDMA network, and as such it will deliver better and more mobile services to regional mobile users. The capacity for mobile internet is 3.6Mbit/sec, it's getting really good!

Louise Baby Shower

I had the opportunity to join Louise Baby shower-party/breakfast/lunch early Saturday morning (my first). I could hardly get out of bed, but once I forced myself into the shower, and thru on some nice rags I went with excitement to The Garfish Restaurant in Manly, to meet the other “Baby shower gals”. This is how the “shower” went down:

  • Lots of Coffee and food: To start off the event (and also to wake some people up), loads of nice food, and coffee was ordered to the large table, occupied by approx 15 gals, and one boy (Emmas 9 month old Marcus).
  • The secret task, on pink paper: Everyone got a pink paper note, which was divided in the middle, a task was written on both sides, you kept one part, and the other was pined to a board with your name on it, to be kept by Louise. The reminder pink note read: Bring over a pre-cooked dinner for two, a bit further down there is a best before date: this opportunity expires 22nd of July 2007. I kind of like this one, I’d love for people to come over with nicely home cooked meals; she must have about 15 to collect, not bad!!!
  • Sniff, look & mucky diaper contest: Everyone got a diaper each, filled with different type of chocolate; the contest was to guess what type of chocolate that was mashed in your diaper, by looking, tasting and sniffing it! Luckily I got smarties in mine, which where kind of easy to identify, so I skip the sniffing and tasting part.
  • Guessing Louise stomach measurement: Hmmmm....guessing how large Louise’s stomach has become. Cutting off some yarn representing Louise’s circumference proved to be very difficult, and fun because of how much peoples eye-measure skills or none existing measure skills showed off.
  • Who will get the honor of buying Louise a gift to the baby?
In a tiny notebook everyone stated the following:
    Sex:
    Weight:
    Length:
    Birth date:
Also everyone donated $2, the winner (the one closed to the truth, which will reveal itself in a couple of weeks) receives the honor of buying a present to the new mother!

I had a fantastic time, thanks to Emma for organizing the event!!!

Friday Drinks at Bar Europe

Tino with a photogenic "I'm crazy in a strange way, and a bit unreliable"-pose, with Anna.
I was kind of tired on Friday, but Camilla is going back to Sweden for a month, so I decided to go straight after work, bringing my car, to join the crowd at Bar Europe on 82 Elizabeth Street. Easy as a pie, with my all brand new GPS gear (fantastic!!!) They have some REALLY good DJs here, but the music where kind of laud (ops, now I probably sound like an old rag..but when you want to talk this might NOT be the pace, at lease not the inner bar) we ended up shouting back and forth, until it was time to leave, Tino wanted to continue but I was boringly tired and sober, so we decided to go back home. About 500m from our house I realized I forgot my card in the BAR!!!!! Just an hour extra driving…J the place was just about to close when I came back,
Bar guy: Sorry for the inconvenience, do you want some water, coke etc???
LS: No thanks
Bar guy: It happens all the time, you’re sure you don’t want a drink before you go
LS: yes, but thanks!
People are SOOOOO NICE here J

Starlight Cocktail Party

Nadine, my very ALL-American colleague at work (who invited me and Tino) and her oz Boyfriend. According to Nadine this was “The Event” to attend, apparently there where may famous people there, however I didn’t recognize any of them, so she was very helpful, and pointed them all out to me. Lot’s of Champagne, a great DJ, and live Sax-playing (I love sax music!!! I thought of Christina and Kristine, who are my saxophone playing friends back home). The venue, the Loft bar was on top of Bungalow 8, really nice, they had dressed up the place with balloons and served awesome snacks. I mingled a lot and got to know some oz girls, they where all very nice, single and therefore on the look-out for men, they where defiantly at the right place to do so. Fun evening! I have another date with Nadine, going shopping, this is her biggest interest :-)

GOLF Day with Ericsson Sydney

The yearly event Ericsson Golf was on Friday. We where excited (I a bit nervous since I only played Golf two times the last couple of five years). We all gathered at St: Michael Golf course close to Botany Bay outside of Sydney at 7am, after breakfast, and gear (golf clubs) gathering my team was off....to a VERY VERY wet golf course, it was poring down. We where all soaked, but our spirit was up, and we still enjoyed driving around in the Golf Cars teeing off and shooting “four” (I think it is, when the ball almost hit the team in front) a couple of times, Tamizon (3) had made an unfortunate choice of wearing white pans…which turned see through after one hole…later she lent a sweater from Luke. The Golf was fantastic anyway much due to the company, and the nice WARM lunch served afterwards. After drying off in the ladies under the hand dryer, and a small inciden crashing into another golf car whne returning it, we where as good as new.

Baby boom in the office

Michelle and a colleague (HR) from Melbourne are visiting the Ryde office, both pregnat. The last couple of months have been hectic; new babies or pregnant friends are popping up everywhere….just to mention a few; Jonas, Caroline, Parandis, Hanieh have all go new babies, Stina, Lollo, Emma, and more are expecting…

Business Women fascinates waiters!?

Today I had a great lunch meeting, which turned into hours of talking. While socializing and actually discussing business, the waiter come up to me and Emily (Jamba) asking,

Waiter: Wow, where are you from, you're so stylish, are you working in fashion or?
LS: well, not really, we're working with telecom
EO: Mobile content, you know ring tones and things like that
Waiter: You're not from here are you, you are both so so so ..??..nice dressed, and your sunnies (mine ar DG and Emilies Prada) you look so cool, I through for sure Media or Fashion.
(OK, we guessed he wanted to score some points with, but he just continued asking us a million questions, these are just a few)
LS: No, sorry we're not. May we have a skim latte please?
ES: I used to work with Media
Waiter: Ah, though so, skim lattes, coming up
Waiter: Are you going to work after this?
LS: Yes, this is actually a business meeting
Waiter: really, are you sure (smiling a big smile, blinking)?
LS: Yes, I'm sure
EO: hi, hi we are actually working yes.
100 questions, I don't have the energy to write down...Waiter: But, where are you from, you are not from here, right?
EO: Melbourne
LS: well I'm..I guess from Sydney, may I have the bill please?
Waiter coming back with the bill
Waiter: Here, please take my card, you will get 25% rebate if you come back
Aha maybe this was the whole aim, marketing the restaurant by flattering the guests..hmmmm, could even be working, we where happy walking out!

Coming back to MLC, I realize it is actually HIS card no the restaurants,

My seat is taken over...

By this huge kakaduva!? Trying to eat breakfast on the balcony is becoming increasingly difficult, these birds are NOT scared of me at all. I'm walking out with a sandwich and they are demanding a bite, hallo move please I'm pleading, kakaka and a big wing in my face is what I'm getting back, after a bit trial and error I finally realise that they are scared of other chairs. Also Tino is feeding them no wounder they are coming back and bringing ALL their friends

Bondi Beach

Went to Bondi to pick up a smart phone bought on E-bay, now I have a gps-navigator to my car, Tino just have to prep it first, this will save me my detour time driving in Sydney! On Friday Gareth and I ended up at the airport instead of the office after a client meeting, just an hour extra in the car.

Kakkaduva

These birds are huge, and seam to like landing on our balkony in the sunset.
